Briefing is a luggage label founded in 1998 that aims to pursue true "militaryism" while complying with MIL SPEC. At the same time, it provides outstanding functional beauty.
Paradoxically, Briefing's design concept is to escape from "militaryism". Briefing's designers focus on durable components and cutting-edge technologies developed and produced in the United States, and constantly think about how these functions can be presented in bags that can be used in everyday urban environments, and what finishes to use to achieve a balance between functionality and aesthetic beauty.
All of Briefing's lines have been developed considering various situations (business, travel, sports, cars, trains, airplanes, etc.) that require a stylish bag to suit various lifestyles. In these situations, the bag that the user chooses must be based on "durability and functional beauty", and Briefing is growing into a top-quality luggage brand chosen by the most demanding users around the world.
MIL SPEC is an abbreviation for "Military Specification". It is a series of standardization documents to ensure smooth procurement of military supplies by the U.S. Department of Defense. One of the major differences between MIL SPEC and general product standards (such as JIS) is the specifications for the usage environment. All general standards are established to ensure that products and materials can perform 100% of their designed performance in the daily living space of people.
On the other hand, MIL SPEC, which regulates products used in the military and aerospace industries, requires that materials and products can perform 100% of their designed performance even in deep seas, hot deserts, and polar regions. The test methods and application criteria under MIL SPEC are also very different. This is why MIL SPEC remains "one of the most stringent standards."
The main material of the briefing product is "Ballistic Nylon (#1050 denier, double basket weave)", which has very high wear resistance and is often used for portable weapons and gun cases. It is one of the most high-strength materials used in military factories. The lining and core use Pack Cloth (#420 denier), and all materials and parts used in detailed areas comply with MIL SPEC (military standard). Webbing and metal parts that are suitable for MIL SPEC are placed on the shoulder straps and handles, and all zippers use fasteners from YKK, which boast the world's highest quality.
All bags feature a unique stitching technique called “Secure Tack”, which was developed to prevent fraying at the seams. Secure Tack is one of the highest quality joining stitching patterns used in the industry, and is complemented by Brief’s iconic RED LABEL “nylon tape”, which provides visibility and reinforcement when attaching the slide clips. Briefing uses this technique on all of their bags, not only to reinforce the bag, but also to provide a design effect.
